Barbaricum is seeking a Media Analyst to join a contract team supporting the U.S. Army’s Office of the Chief of Public
Affairs (OCPA). The Media Analyst will work onsite at the Pentagon with a team of five other media analysts and in support
of a larger communication contract team. This person will handle simultaneous requests from various public affairs
personnel across OCPA’s various divisions, manage the deadlines for these deliverables, work with the other analysts to
create the products, and ensure all products are delivered on time and meet quality standards. This person will produce
media analysis deliverables such as clips packages, breaking news alerts, brief summaries, and in-depth analysis reports.
They will use various search platforms and media monitoring tools (Barbaricum will train candidate on these tools) to
collect, organize, analyze, and assess media data about the Army. This includes examining traditional and social media
data. This person will also analyze media analysis results to provide key takeaways and recommendations on how the
Army can improve communication planning and execution. They will also work with OCPA’s Assessments Team to support
efforts to evaluate Army communication effectiveness.
BA/BS in a communications-related field preferred.
5+ years of relevant communications experience.
Experience in media monitoring and analysis.
Experience working for the U.S. Army a plus.
Experience working on government contracts a plus.
Excellent open-source research skills to search hundreds of media outlets to identify those news articles most important
to the client.
Ability to conduct research, gather data, assess information, interpret results, and write reports analyzing media
Strong writing and editing skills to produce concise summaries and analyses of news topics with minimal formatting or
grammar errors.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Reliable and able to work under tight deadlines for product submission.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to rapidly collect, collate, and effectively present research and
analysis results to senior Army leaders.
Very proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
