Meredith Corporation is in search of a highly-qualified, motivated candidate for the following:
The Closed Captioning Offline Editor is a post-production specialist responsible for the transcription, placement, and timing
of stylistically accurate captions for pre-recorded television shows and videos. The Editor will encounter a wide variety of
terminology ranging from slang to technical jargon, including localized dialects, and will need to successfully transcribe
accordingly. This role is second shift with alternating weekend work likely.
Essential Job Functions
80% - Transcribe audio tracks; learn and use captioning software to create and edit closed caption files, including timing,
positioning and content of captions. Complete necessary projects under a strict deadline environment with the ability to be
flexible as some overtime will be necessary.
10% - Develop and use efficient research methods.
10% - Communicate with vendors and clients.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Communications, Broadcast or Film &
Media Production preferred.
Experience: One year proofreading, editing, research, or writing experience preferred. Familiarity with broadcast television
a plus. Fluency in Spanish, Portugese or French a plus.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to perform under strict deadlines
Ability to type 50+ words per minute
Strong command of the English language; exceptional grammar and vocabulary skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with MS Word and Excel
Familiarity with Google and associated products
