The role of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) through its dedicated teams is to offer CMB’s CRE customers a wide and
comprehensive range of funding solutions in conjunction with other product partners to both international and domestic
investors and developers in all areas of the commercial and residential sectors.
The Commercial Real Estate Senior Portfolio Manager has responsibility for supporting the Senior Manager (SM) / Senior
Corporate Banking Manager (SCBM) in his/her day to day management of the team and portfolio.
The role holder shadows the SM/ SCBM to maintain and develop relationships with corporate clients in his/her portfolio to
achieve prescribed plan and deliver a best in class, consistent service to the clients.
The jobholder is a senior manager and will have responsibility for the quality of credit submissions and will be proactive,
supporting SM/ SCBM to develop client relationships within his/her portfolio.
The role holder is responsible for operating in accordance with the Bank’s internal credit and other guidelines, controls and
procedures and also in line with any external regulatory requirements.
Impact on the Business
Develop the SM/SCBM portfolio and support SM/SCBM activities to maximise income from existing client relationships,
winning a larger share of their available wallet and winning new clients to the Bank
Identify key revenue generators and drive to attain financials and other results of the designated Corporate Banking team
Over time, assume responsibility for a portfolio of corporate clients
Support the development and implementation of CB strategy within the team
Liaise and work with other areas and segments of the Bank to ensure the best possible experience for both the customers,
employees and the Bank, maximising returns/cross sales
Customers / Stakeholders
Cascade team strategy and support the setting of objectives
Become fully involved in negotiations, discussions, pitches to clients alongside SM/SCBM to optimise the potential value of
client relationships by delivering solutions, products and service appropriate to meet client needs and improve
engagement
Responsible for supporting SM/SCBM assigned portfolios to achieve plan whilst also ensuring operational integrity and
compliance

Lead, motivate and inspire the team to achieve the Group strategy and business objectives
Be ultimately responsible for the performance management of your team, using relevant performance management tools,
ensuring timely action is taken to improve underperformance

Take a hands-on approach to coaching with regular & productive use of Personal Development Plans and appropriate follow
up.
Ensure development activities are a core priority and enable all team members to take reasonable time for learning and

Ensure the team is resourced to headcount plan, sufficient to meet the demands and opportunities of the business.
Develop appropriate retention strategies within the team’s cost plan.
Manage succession for key roles using internal and selective hires where appropriate.

reward/recognition practices.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
Support and embed change initiatives
Understand business risks and monitor team adherence to established policies
Ensure consistent application of Group policy and adherence to regulatory, financial, and legal risks
Drive efficient, accurate and timely processing of client requests and transactions
Drive internal review and/or external regulators’ requirements to ensure they are dealt with dealt with in an accurate and
timely manner
To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group
Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate
compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize
relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
The jobholder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an
organisation. This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours required to support the Best Place to Bank
principles of Make Better Products, Sell Them Properly and Keep Them Sold.
The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business,
taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and
practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. Also by addressing
any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
Observation of Internal Controls

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE
Strong Knowledge of Bank’s structures, products and procedures
Significant knowledge of the changing economic, social and governmental environment and industries/sectors in US
Strong understanding of risk management and credit mitigants and strong credit knowledge
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 8 years’ experience ideally in the Commercial or Corporate environment.
Must have commercial real estate portfolio management experience for middle market or large corporate clients
Proven track record in a corporate client and financial sponsor focused
Environment and an ability to anticipate clients’ needs and tailor service delivery to them
Proven record in decision making
Proven ability to work with a variety of levels including senior executives both internal and within client hierarchies
Bachelor’s Degree Required
SKILLS
Proven leadership skills including coaching, motivation and the ability to project/engender ownership of corporate goals in
others and communications skills to inspire others
Strong ‘team’ skills promoting an environment of co-operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered
Strong analytical and financial skills
