Job Summary: The Language Translator translates documents from one language into another language. This position may
also translate in person communications.
Responsibilities: Translates documents and other material from one language to another.
Translators convert verbal conversations or written material from one or more languages (source languages) into another
language (target language) ensuring that, as far as possible, the translated version is as accurate as the source language
Reads material and rewrites material in specified language or languages, following established rules pertaining to factors,
such as word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.
May specialize in particular type of material, such as news, legal documents, or reports and be designated accordingly.
May represent or spell characters of another alphabet and be designated Transliterator.
Serves as a role model in carrying out the Father Flanagan’s Boys’ Home mission.
High school or equivalent preferred.
Previous language translating experience preferred.
Proven ability to translate verbal conversations or written literature from one language into another.
Excellent comprehension of two or more languages.
