Overview of Organization & Position:
The Pontifical Mission Societies has been in existence for 197 years. It is responsible for helping to bring to realization
Jesus’ great command . . . "Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations." Matt 28:19 The organization is international,
present in over 120 countries, and exists to enable the Holy See to ensure that those who are helped in their personal
needs can in turn bear witness to the Gospel. The Societies contribute annually to projects in 1,111 Mission Dioceses
until they are self-sufficient.
Pope Francis, with a purpose of reawakening awareness of the call to Mission in Missio Ad Gentes, has called for an
Extraordinary Missionary Month to be celebrated October 2019. In response to this request and to foster an increased
awareness of each Catholic faithful’s baptismal call to be Missionary, Archbishop Charles Chaput has approved for the
Archdiocese of Philadelphia an Extraordinary Year of Mission from October 2018-2019. To assist in the implementation
this year, we are seeking a part-time Events Coordinator.
Primary Responsibility: Assists in the implementation of all activities and events related to the EYM.
Assists in implementation of all aspects of the EYM including marketing, planning & communication
Assists in the formation of messaging to clergy, parish staffs and groups to implement the activities and events
surrounding all aspects of EYM
Helps to maintain and update necessary donor/group data in database
Helps develop reports and documents for leadership, grant and decision-making purposes
Helps coordinate and participate in presentations
Helps coordinate and attend activities and events
Representative Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Due to the nature of our work, candidate must be a practicing Catholic in communion with the Church and have a
passion for bring the faith and the words of Jesus to others.
Excellent written, interpersonal, communication including proofreading & presentation skills.
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and has strong computer skills to easily learn
Strong program planning/organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Enjoys working in a team setting and is a practical, self-motivated individual that enjoys personal contact.
Some Knowledge of Marketing and New Media a plus.
Salary: Part-time position avg. 18 hours weekly $15 to $17/hour experience dependent. The job is funded through June
30, 2020 only.
